The LG Optimus 2X is the first smartphone device released to feature dual core processors. While this feature looks set to become a standard for all high end smartphones in 2011 LG has beaten its rivals to the finish line by being the first to offer it to consumers. This is not to say that the Optimus 2X has been rushed to release as even a quick overview of the phone’s specifications will show that this is not the case.
Although the dual core Tegra 2 processor was the feature that initially attracted a lot of attention to LG’s new flagship, previously known as the LG Star, the device has a lot more to offer besides. It comes with a fantastic 4″ capacitive screen that is ideal for viewing movies and places this as a great phone of video entertainment. In fact, the Optimus 2X is capable of full 1080p HD video playback and on top of this can capture 1080p videos as well through its 8 megapixel camera.
The phone can have around 40GB of storage when microSD cards are in use, providing plenty of room for video content, but video entertainment is not just consigned to offline mode. This is because the Optimus 2X comes with YouTube and Adobe Flash support so that you can enjoy video content from online as well.
The Optimus 2X is a superb phone for all forms of textual messaging with threaded SMS, email and instant messaging all supported. As is to be expected it also comes with phenomenal social networking integration for social networks like Facebook so that you can never be denied the ability to post on a wall or update your status.
The Optimus 2X also comes with high speed 3G and Wi-Fi connections providing you with web access whenever you should need it, and the Wi-Fi also comes with DLNA enabled so that you can enjoy those high quality HD videos through your home TV should you wish to do so.
LG was the first to get into the dual core niche of the smartphone market but it won’t be the last. Although there are already other high profile dual core handsets up for release at the same time the Optimus 2X is not a one trick donkey and still provides a great wealth of other entertainment and web features to make it still stand out as one of the highlights of 2011. The phone can already be found for less through fantastic online phone contract comparison.
