Is it enough to build your brand on your vanity 800 number? December 13th, 2011

admin

A vanity 800 number’s most obvious and proven benefit is that it is highly memorable. Vanity 800 phone numbers are also known to be the added reasons for the success of 1-800-FLOWERS and 1-800-CONTACTS. Both of these companies started small with their businesses, but profited greatly after acquiring a vanity number.

But having a vanity number is not a guaranteed formula for success. As an example, we have 1-800-MATRESS which had the claim to fame for the slogan “leave off the last S for savings”, a reference to the leaving off the last S in MATRESS to prevent an overdial. The company was built in 1969 by Napoleon Barragan who was inspired by the idea of “dial-a-steak”. If we can order a steak over phone and have it delivered, why not a mattress? The idea soon grew into a modest business. The then known Dial-a-Matress got into TV advertising in 1979 and acquired their toll free 800 number in 1988. It was during this time, according to Barragan, that he projected to his executive team revenues of 4 million, 8 million in 1989 and 12 million in 1990. Despite the disbelief of his executives, the company exceeded these.

2009, several bedding companies were affected by the recession and 1-800-MATRESS, a 100 million-dollar business in 2005, filed for bankruptcy. Barragan’s son was also charged for killing his mother. The company that boomed because of successful 800 number brand building and excellent customer service had to sell to its rival. Lesson learned? We can’t be assured of perpetual success in business. Just like 1-800-MATRESS, any business can succumb to a host of problems that your business phone system can’t solve. Build up customer loyalty, exhaust all marketing efforts and provide top notch service. After these, all you can do is sit back and wait for results.

For a camera provided by PrimeSense. When the camera and projector to work, users can run the system and use it, says Microsoft.

The challenge of this research is how to define that look like fingers into the system; the idea that all surfaces can be used for touch interactions and detect touch when touching surfaces that do not have a sensor, said Chris Harrison, a Ph.D. Carnegie Mellon University students, who participated in this study.

Barracuda Spam Filter Review November 18th, 2011

admin

Barracuda Networks Inc. is a privately owned security networking and storage solution company. One of it’s most widely purchased and used products is their spam filter which is actually a spam and virus firewall. This firewall is not a software program but, rather an extra piece of hardware, a plug in appliance that actually prevents spam emails from reaching your server.

The Barracuda spam filter came out in 2003 and 2008 Barracuda designed their spam filter for larger enterprises. Having a spam filter for a large business makes sense. When you consider the number of spam emails a normal users gets in the course of the day imagine working for a large corporation and having to spend the day ridding the company’s computer of all that spam. The Barracuda spam filter and firewall does that for you. It even allows you to choose what should and what should not be allowed in your inbox.

Since the initial introduction of the large enterprise Barracuda spam filter in 2008 there have been several different versions of this filter hitting the market and depending what version you purchase the price varies but, expect to pay over $2000.00 dollars for whichever version you choose.

Reviews for the barracuda spam filter are mixed with many reviewers stating that this firewall does a great job saving them a lot of time and effort by filtering out all those junk emails and that very few spam emails ever get through. Other reviewers say that this filter is slow, and actually worse than the junk emails they were getting before they purchased the filter. One thing all the reviewers seem to agree on is that the filter is expensive for what it does.

Expert reviews seem to be as mixed as actual users reviews. While most of the expert reviewers admit that the Barracuda spam filter does seem to filter more spam and harmful emails than the spam filters other companies produce they have various complaints about the length of time the filter functions and other complaints as well. It is recommended if you get a Barracuda spam filter that you purchase an extended warranty in order to get your full money’s worth from this product.

One thing that most reviewers do really agree on is that Barracuda provides excellent customer support and are quick to answer questions and deal with complaints and will go that extra step to see that you are satisfied with their product.

While the Barracuda spam filter is far from perfect it seems to be the best spam filter out there and if you are worried about those virus laden emails shutting your business computer down and costing you thousands of dollars in lost revenue it may just be worth it’s price.
